Frostbites

Category : Black & White, Nature · No Comments · by Dec 15th, 2017

It was 04:15 when the alarm went off. A quick breakfast, a couple shots of double espressos and off we went to the highest peak of northern Germany – Brocken… with our mountain bikes. It was the second time this winter we cycled up to catch the sunrise… Well, a proper Brocken winter sunrise is yet to be seen. The winter foggy and frosty nature was amazing, though.

Nature’s Drawing / Risba narave

Category : Nature · No Comments · by Jan 21st, 2016

I made this photograph this weekend while I was doing a photoshoot with Kismet, you know the beautiful horse I already published once a while ago in infrared. While we were walking around, I noticed how subtle the landscape was. It almost felt like a color pencil drawing. This got me thinking. It seems that we want drawings to be as realistic as possible, but at the same time we find appeal in photographs that feel like they were drawn… We somehow strived to perfect a device that records our world, but now that this very device is perfected and even widely available, we want to abstract the same world. Go the other way.  Just to make it clear, I just cropped it in post production, and adjusted the histogram a tiny bit.  This is what stimulates me. Finding a scene that feels surreal and capturing it in a best possible way. This photograph is actually a true nature’s drawing. I just recorded it.

Fotografijo sem posnel pretekli vikend, ko sem fotografiral Kismet, tisto elegantno kobilo, ki sem jo že pred časom objavil v infrardeči. Spodnjo fotografijo sem le malenkost obrezal in ji rahlo popravil histogram in to je tisto, kar me stimulira v fotografiji. Najti motiv, ki se zdi nenaraven in ga upodobiti na najboljši možni način. Pravzaprav je ta fotografija pristna risba narave. Jaz sem jo samo zabeležil.

Deep Woods / Globoki gozd

Category : Black & White, Infrared, Nature · (3) Comments · by Jan 18th, 2016

This woods remind me of my favourite stanza of “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert E. Frost, A poem I know by heart ever since I had to recite it at English class in high school.

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”

Fotografija gozda me spominja na najljubško kitico pesmi Roberta E. Frosta “Stopping by the Woods in a Snowy Evening”. Kitico pa puščam kar v izvorni obliki…
